About the program:

This program is a partnership between Foss Waterway Seaport and Parks Tacoma. Funding comes from grants secured by the Foss Waterway Seaport.

This past fall, students from four middle schools in Tacoma (Hilltop Heritage, Mason, Meeker, and Hunt) had the opportunity to pilot our new EcoKayak program - a 4-day after school program where students practice the fundamentals of sea kayaking with qualified instructors, collect water samples while on the water, and test the samples for coliform bacteria.

In the spring, students from the remaining 8 schools will be able to register for the upcoming sessions of EcoKayak through Parks Tacoma - more information here.

Giaudrone Middle School: April 29, May 1, 6, 8

Baker Middle School: May 12, 14, 19, 21

Bryant Middle School: May 13, 15, 20, 22

Truman Middle School: May 27, 29, June 3, 5

Wainwright Middle School: May 28, 30, June 2, 4
