Foss Waterway Seaport — The Waterfront Gathering Place for Our Community
WE ARE OPEN ALL WEEKEND! Plan a visit to the Seaport...a super family outing! (4th of July holiday hours)
The Foss Waterway Seaport is located at the foot of Tacoma's downtown core at the north end of the Thea Foss Waterway. The Seaport is housed in the authentic century–old Balfour Dock building, the last remaining intact section of timber frame warehouse that defined Tacoma's waterfront for almost a century. Our Working Waterfront Maritime Museum showcases many interactive exhibits great for school field trips, home school students, day care groups, families, and tour groups.
Featured this weekend: Discovery Wharf, our children's exhibit with hands–on, innovative educational activities teaching kids all about marine life both above and below the water; waterfront history exhibits; expanded classic recreational boat collection including a 1914 speedboat cruiser, an Olympic class sailboat, and hydroplanes of all classes, including the famous Miss Bardahl; antique outboards from the turn of the last century; active wooden boat shop that brings the history of boating to life; and "All Aboard for Washington Territory," the fascinating story of the Northern Pacific Railway's role in the development of Tacoma!
