The Willits brothers, Earl and Floyd, built canoes in their Day Island factory on the west side of Tacoma.  They manufactured canoes from 1908 until 1967, culminating in over 900 early identical, hand-crafted wood canoes. This exhibit features a one-of-a-kind 20-foot launch, built in 1929 by the brothers.  Learn the story of this local cottage industry which produced products some of the industries most sought after classical canoes.
